Privy Council of Bhutan welcomes the new Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson

The Privy Council of Bhutan extends a warm welcome to Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji and Dasho Kesang Wangdi, who assumed the post of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively following the conferment of Dakyens by His Majesty the King on the auspicious day of May 8, 2024 coinciding with the 30th day of the 3rd Month of the Wood Male Dragon Year 2024. Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji graduated from Armed Forces Medical College Pune, in December 1976, and was commissioned into the Royal Bhutan Army, where he served for 30 years. He was conferred red scarf by His Majesty the King in 2009. Dasho Kesang Wangdi had been in the Civil Service for over 37 years having served as Ambassador and Cabinet Secretary of Bhutan

ABOUT US

As per Article 2 Section 14 of the Constitution of Bhutan 2008, there shall be a Privy Council which shall consist of four members; two appointed by The Druk Gyalpo, one nominated by Lhengye Zhungtsho and one nominated by the National Council. The Privy Council is mainly responsible for all matters pertaining to the privileges of the Druk Gyalpo and the Royal Family.

ORGANOGRAM

The Privy Council was established on 1st May 2008. The Council office is located at Kuengachoeling Mothithang, Thimphu.
